By default, this feature is enabled. If you need to turn it on manually, here's how:
Important note about download location: The last used location must be within your browser's default downloads folder. For example:
Otherwise, the file will automatically go to your browser's default downloads location instead. This is a browser security feature that prevents extensions from downloading files to unauthorized locations without user confirmation.
If you prefer to choose a new location when the last used location isn't available:
To change your browser's default download location:

Chrome Web Store explicitly disallows publishing extensions that download videos from YouTube™, thus we do not support this feature.

Currently this is not possible due to Chrome's security policy, it's likely that malicious extensions may do bad things with that.

This isn't my answer but a slight expansion on the question. If I'm downloading the file and power is suddenly lost will CDM resume the download from where it was stopped or will it need to be redownlaoded entirely?

Search for finish.ogg on your computer.
Mine is located in C:\Users\####\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\#####################\0.9.3_0\snds
Replace it with your preferred sound file.

Yes, you have to use the original Chrome downloader. You can get to it on the INCOGNITO window.
1. Ctrl+Shift+N OR Menu -> New incognito window
2. Ctrl+J OR Menu -> Downloads
3. Then find your failed/paused and click the giant blue RESUME button.
This should be a simple feature to add to the alternate download manager if it does not exist since you just have to link to the function, if it exists it just needs to be documented where it is and make the function more obvious and easy to access.

If you see this "Save As" dialog when starting a download, it typically means your browser settings need to be adjusted. The following configurations are required for Chrono Download Manager to work smoothly:

on Mac OS would cause problems for Chrono. How to Configure Chrome:
chrome://settings/downloads

Hi,
If someone could help me with this slight annoying issue that I've found - when one click download is turned off (I need to change the name for certain download batches) - the popup to start and name the file pops up twice... one on the tab from the page itself and the other in a NEW tab (which is extremely annoying) where the download manager page opens.
Is there any setting where I can change this? I'd have to kill one and then change tab, which I'm pretty sure is not supposed to happen
Thanks in advance!

When you click the Chrono icon on browser toolbar, the pop-up window shows Downloads List by default. If you would like to bulk download links/images/videos on a website, you can switch to Chrono Sniffer by clicking the Sniffer (like a magnifier) button on top.

Not the easiest thing, but two ways to do what you want.
1. Bring up the sniffer. Under the Image tab, click on the URL button. This will SORT THE LIST BY URL. Click again to reverse the sort. Now scroll down find the first wanted entry (resize the column if necessary) and click the row (NOT the left checkbox, the ROW ITSELF.) It'll change color. Now scroll down to the last one, hit and hold SHIFT and click it's row. The entire section (not the entire list though) will turn grey. (Holding CTRL will select only those specific rows you clicked on.) NOW select any grey single option box on the left to enable that entire section. The download count will reflect the number of rows you selected. Click Start or Pause to go.
2. Use the Regular Expression area, and sort per above if necessary. Basically: ONLY USE LOWER CASE HERE, and prepend EVERY non alphanumeric character with a backslash. Example: pictures\.google\.com or 1080p\) Either just do this or read up on RE rules. Alphanums are resonable, but all other characters do NOT do what you expect. If confused, always add a \ before the character.
This should automatically select all rows with those characters, the number of rows will reflect your search. Click Start or Pause.
RE's are weird if you've not read up on them. Preface any strange character with a backslash. And for some reason only here, UPPER CASE breaks the search -- that's NOT an RE thing, I don't know what the deal is.
BTW: I've currently got over 3,000 items in my DL list, adding them 10-60 at a time. At 200K per file, it's taken days running 4 threads. Working fine though, even survived a browser crash(!)

Your English is just fine. Ignore the losers who harp on typos and misphrasings -- EVERYONE does that.
I don't know the answer to your question, but (What on Earth are you downloading? :-) ) may I suggest that you save the HTML page and chop it up into 9,000 chunk items in your favorite HTML editor, then load each page seperately and specify things that-a-way.
Conversely you might try sorting, selecting chunks with SHIFT, and/or using the Regular Expression filters.
NOT the answer that you wanted, but that might get you limping along. Alternatively, look at FireFox 56 (and below) and Down-Them-All for this. Or look at WGET and feed it a list of URLs. It'll eat ANYthing at all.

Yes, you put forward slashes between the naming masks, for example your naming mask would look like so:
*date*/*host*/*name*.*ext*
So that would come out with the files placed into a folder for the current date, then a folder for the host site, then the filename and it's extention.
I find that's useful to keep new photos seperated from the older ones. But you may prefer to put the date inside the website folder ornot include it at all, totally up to you.
I've found downloading from different places the results using *host* isn;t always consitant, so if that doesn't give you your desired result you can also try
*page_title* or *refer* instead.
Although I've not foundeither of those to be 100% reliable either. Failing all of those, you can just add the site name in manually during download
like so google.com/*host*/*name*.*ext*
Hope that helps :)
I've worked out a lot of useful little tricks in this program that I've had to figure out for myself, so I might put a blog post together on my site at some point soon, as this FAQ is aweful and the top questions don't even read well, so think I need to do somethign about it lol.

So at the title states - all my rules don't work. I've ticked them all to be 'active' and none are working - even the pre-configured ones that come with the extension.
I've tested by adding "test_" as a prefix to the default naming mask, under the rules section and this does rename files to have "test_" at the start. It seems all files are doing this; pdf, jpg, mp3 etc. and not just my own rule for a specific file type. Is there something missing that I need to do?

After tinkering around for over an hour, I coded a way to properly sort all file types, as the default rules in Chrono Download Manager do not work.
Examples for rules:
Condition
[ext_video].has(*ext*)
*ext*.is([ext_pdf])
Naming Mask
video/*name*.*ext*
pdf/*name*.ext
Notice I ditched the {r_done}&& because that was literally breaking the filtering. Also, although it doesn't matter as much as I thought, it was more logical to test if a long list of extensions in a string ".has" a certain extention inside of it. Thus you'll see ".has" used except for ext_pdf, because it's a single extension only, which I removed from ext_doc and made separate.
I'll attach screenshots of my setup so you can get this tool working properly. I haven't bothered to learn more about it for now since it's working.

Due to the restriction of Chrome's downloads API, currently you cannot configure download folder inside the extension, you need to change Chrome's default download location and every downloaded file will go into that folder. Do as follows:
With version greater than 0.9.0, you can find a folder button on status bar (bottom left) that directly opens above settings page.
